About me

It has already been a fantastic journey so far!

Hey everyone!

I am Ann Benoot, a self-taught textile art creator from Belgium and at the important age of 40 I was eager to take my first steps outside into the world. Through my knitting and crocheting hobby, I've searched my own creative voice and found it in creating freeform crocheted animals inspired by Zentangle drawing. A mouth full :-) After one is finished, I choose intuitively and blindly which animal I will make next, so every time it's a pleasant surprise.

I use the language of freeform crochet in my own words to translate inspiring zentangle drawings of amimals into a textile story. Freeform crochet is like painting – the hook is a brush and the yarn a paint. The result can be abstract or realistic. Freeform is original design, not a reproduction of another person's pattern. The outcome is a piece of art like no other. Besides every poweranimal has his meaning and his story, and therefore the crocheted version is more than just a painting of an animal. Attached on canvas it becomes a piece of textile art.

It's now about a year and a half that I'm online with my first textile art collection and it has been a fantastic journey so far! I get a lot of positive comments and even already have been asked for an interview on a American crochetwebsite. Wauw, amazing and never expected! I am so grateful!

Thank you for visiting and hope to see you soon again!

Happy greetings,

Ann
